About Wesley

Since a young age, I was fascinated in the world of spirituality and religion. It was this very thing that opened the way to seminary. But along this path, my ancient questions didn’t go away and I tried to think not too much about all the lingering questions in my soul.

My discontent and struggle with the cliché answers was something I felt more than that I understood. Very often I didn't had the right words to communicate my feelings. I had a deep sense of frustration and sadness. Maybe, this Christian belief wasn’t working for me after all?

My life took another path, my search evolved and 7 years later I graduated as a social worker. During this time of studying, working and meeting my wife, I explored the wider culture around me. In this process I’ve came to realize that my discontent had nothing to do with my belief in God, but more with contemporary Christianity as an institution.

In many ways, these last years have been the most exciting ever. I am awakened to the sense that I am called. Called to live out the questions in my heart. I am able to dialogue with individuals in a way I never have before. Very often when the years pass, we see that the divine orchestration from the past has a divine purpose for the present.
This purpose today is merely the act of listening, acknowledging someone who is troubled. Today’s priest, psychologist, counselors, social workers... and heroes are as well a symbol and an expression of another step in the same direction. Helping others to understand what it’s all about - is just explaining it to ourselves, as drawers of that curtain.
Not as a tour guide, but as a fellow traveler; and that can make all the difference! My genuine desire and intention is to walk with you along the path, after all ... I am walking in the same shoes.

Today’s fact

Millions of spiritual seekers in Europe have abandoned their organized religion. The degree of disenchantment with organized religion is starkly revealing. Many individuals claim a religion, but fewer are attending services regularly. Most of them arrive at their own spiritual believe outside of organized religion, one reason is the tension that the church has failed to practice what it preaches.

Today’s belief system is not fulfilling spiritual needs, but most of us sense our own divine nature unexpectedly bubbling to the surface of our everyday reality. As we are told explicitly in the bible. “You are Gods, sons of the Most High, all of you.” Psalms 82:6.

However, the search for our true spiritual roots remains the most compelling question. Despite religious indoctrination, individuals remain unfulfilled in the search for spiritual understanding, we remain unsatisfied in our perpetual quest to fill the spiritual vacuum within our souls. The basic failure of religion is evident in the many alternative spiritual paths that have spawned inside and outside Christianity.

E-M-Club builds a bridge and fills this spiritual gap by organizing gatherings and meetings were our members are invited. If you are one of those searching individuals, then feel free to contact us with your questions.

E-M-Club is a non-profit membership club founded by Wesley. He and his wife are living in Maastricht (The Netherlands). Their background in social work and medicine is a foundation for setting up this ministry. Their walk and relationship can only be described as an ongoing journey.

It has been said that the story of God’s redemption history begins in a garden and ends in a city. The birth of the European Ministry Club can be traced to a desire to create such garden like places in our cities. A place where we can sense a spark of the presence of God.
